Minority Report Shot Analysis!!!

Shot 1: This is a medium close-up(MCU).This is becuase the head to shoulders are only to be seen in this picture. In this photo you can see the first man's facial expression which allows the audience to understand what is going on in the film. This medium close-up allows us enough background to tell us the location of the place and the set of scene also shows us the other characters in the movie. In the scene, the camera movement is a straight cut which changes a shot to one another as this happened in the scene with the guards face to John's face, where there was also a eyeline match aswell(when two actors see eachother).Whilst the eyecontact, the audience knew exactly what was going to happen at this point between the guards and John.

Shot 2: This is a wide/establishing shot because you can see location of where the scene has been taken such as you can see buildings, a alleyway and a rusty car which has been treated badly. The camera movement that has been used here is a whip pan(a very fast pan that can create a feeling of action or drama) which has been used for the scene of John Anderton(Tom Cruise) being chased by the guards. Another camera movement thats has been used towards this scene is a crane(shots are often high angle and show large, epic scenes of dramatic action) of the guards closing in on John where they caught him in the alleyway. There were also handheld shots(shaky movement)going back to the scene of the guards chasing after John.

Shot 3:This shot is another medium close-up which was mainly set on John's face and the guard's face. There was also a eyeline match which makes it look like they were having a conversation. The camera was tilted downwards at a certain point  towards the characters head. The camera seemed to be handheld when the guards and John were fighting.

Post this in a new blogpost on your Media blog and complete the LR tasks/questions below.

WWW: A good, solid start to Media, well done. Your fruit bowl is excellent – creative and also perfectly fitting the task. Your photo storyboard contains some good shots but we need to look again at some of the labelling.

EBI: One piece of unfinished work: you didn’t complete the 10 opening questions – leaving out the most time-consuming aspect which involved watching and analysing the Sherlock clip. In addition, your photo storyboard tells the story but doesn’t label every shot accurately (your extreme close up is actually just a close up etc.) The whole point is to demonstrate you’ve learned how to identify each camera shot! You need to go back and complete/correct these tasks. Finally, Brotherhood was a good choice of film poster but you’ll need to add much more depth to your media analysis over the next year or so.

LR: Complete/correct the missing work. Reflect on your first month of Media. What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far? What is your weakest? What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?

1. What do you feel is your strongest piece of work so far?
The strongest piece of work i have done in my opinion was the camera shot analysis.

2. What is your weakest?
The weakest blog i have done yet was the brotherhood because it was my first work and it was hard to complete but at the end i went through it and completed it.

3.  What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?
The knowledge i need to develop is better explaining on analysis.

Media camershot analysis!

                                                         Wide shot!
We picked a wide shot as it is used to introduce the location or to set the scene. The reason why we chose this scene is to inform the audience about the surroundings and where the story/scene will take place.

                                                    Long shot!
This is a long shot as the picture has been taken far from the two actors who are about to set/place a scene. From this photo you can tell its a long shot as you can see two actors performing and they will be communicating in the next close up pictures coming up.

                                                               Medium shot!
As you can see in the photo this is a medium shot. The reason behind this is because it is from the waist to head. Also in the camerashot that has been taken there are two teenagers who are not friends and are having eye contact in a bad way.

                                                         Medium close up!
This is a medium close up which is a shoulder to head shot as you can see in the picture it is visible. This also shows the audience there emotions in a much closer view of the camershot that has been taken.

                                                             Close up!
This is a close up as you can tell that it only shows half of our face in picture that has been taken. This shows the full expression of two angry teenagers looking at each other with fierce.

                                                   Big/extreme close up!
This is a big/extreme close up as you can see that only one of the teenagers face is in the captured picture.

                                                            Over the shoulder!
Here comes over the shoulder where this represents the convention the two pair are having but mainly based on one characters point of view.

                                                                  High angle!
This is a high angle as you can tell it has been taken from the top.In the camershot there has also been a outbreak where one of the teenagers turn out to hit the other teenager on the floor KNOCKED OUT!!!

                                            Low angle!
This is a low angle! as well as seeing the "victim" unconscious and also the attacker with its clenched fist still with anger of hurting the injured teenager more.

                                          usual perspective!
This the last camershot of the day which is the usual persective. This is a picture that will shock the audience. This attacker has not yet stopped attacking him as you can see him not letting go.

                                          Actors:
                                                   Azhar-The bully/attacker!
                                                   Jaiden-The victim
                                                    Kamaldeep-The cameraman
